For a stunning new production of Richard Strauss and Hugo von Hoffmansthal’s “Der Rosenkavalier”, directed by Maximilian Schell, designed by Gottfried Helnwein, choreographed by Johann Kresnik and starring Kurt Rydl, the L.A Opera relied heavily on Austrian talent in creating a “Gesamtkunstwerk”.

Wien - Von der Wiener Schule des Phantastischen Realismus über Foto- und Hyperrealismus der 1970er-Jahre bis in die Gegenwart führt die Ausstellung "Ir/real. Tendenzen des Realismus in Österreich ab 1945", die am Donnerstag im Klosterneuburger Schömer-Haus eröffnet wurde. Kuratorin Agnes Essl sieht die Schau als eine Art Rückkehr zu den Anfangen der Sammlertätigkeit, zugleich aber als Anregung zur Reflexion über den Realismusbegriff in der Kunst: "Es lag in der Luft".

Das von Peter Hajek 1984 inszenierte Porträt begibt sich auf die Spuren von Helnweins Leben und Werk.
